Visualisations
See the Blue Mackerel project from different locations
Experience what the Blue Mackerel Offshore Wind Project would look like from 17 unique viewpoints along the coastline of 90 Mile Beach with our visualisation tool.
Different viewing modes
Based on the accurate methods described here, you will be presented with three different viewing options:
1. Current view, no turbines
Existing site photography shown within a 120° field of view.
2. Proposed wind farm
Digital pictures of wind turbines and substations placed over site photography, in both sunny and cloudy weather conditions. Weather effects such as ocean spray, mist and fog have been removed to show the maximum possible visibility.
3. X-ray vision
Red overlay of the proposed site infrastructure. Turbines and substations have been deliberately coloured red to demonstrate they’re in the composite image, even when they may be obscured by weather conditions, or by dunes, trees, or buildings.
For maximum resolution, select ‘full-screen’ in the top right-hand corner of the image. This will give you the ability to zoom in and out.

Please note
- The visualisations are based on the initial layout, design and specifications, using current turbines planned for use in Australia. If newer turbines become available, the visualisation model is easily updated to reflect different specifications. Should larger turbines become available, the site design is likely to see slightly fewer turbines, but slightly higher, with an overall minor difference to the visualisation. Blue Mackerel is still relatively early into its feasibility studies and will advise when a final design is determined.
- Images at night will be prepared once we have advice on lighting requirements from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, Civil Aviation Safety Authority, Air Services Australia, Department of Defence.
- The appearance and clarity of visualisations may vary depending on your device, screen size, and resolution. Colours, contrast, and scale can differ across mobile, tablet, and desktop displays, and may change when printed. For the most accurate view, we recommend using a calibrated desktop monitor or experiencing the interactive tool at one of our events.
