This page features recordings of webinars hosted by Blue Mackerel on a variety of topics.
Blue Mackerel Winter Webinar #1 - Project Overview
This webinar covers the big picture: why offshore wind is needed in Australia, why Gippsland is a key location, and how the Blue Mackerel Project fits into the future of clean energy. It includes what we’re doing now to shape a well-regulated, environmentally responsible project that works with and for the local community.
Blue Mackerel Winter Webinar #2 - Community Benefits
The Blue Mackerel Offshore Wind Project wants to make sure local communities directly benefit from a new offshore wind project being developed nearby. If the project progresses to construction, we will deliver a Community Benefits Program. It will be designed with the community, for the community.
In this session, we’ll explain how we’re working with local communities closest to the Blue Mackerel Project to co-design a Community Benefits Program that reflects their unique strengths, values and priorities. You’ll also hear some examples from other renewable energy projects, early ideas we’ve been hearing locally, and how you can get involved.
Blue Mackerel Winter Webinar #3 - Environmental Protection
Offshore wind projects must be carefully planned to protect the environment – not just during construction, but throughout their entire life cycle. In this session, we cover the environmental studies underway and planned for Blue Mackerel. Learn how we’re identifying, assessing and managing potential impacts to guide responsible project design. We’ll also share our timeline and explain how findings will be released for public review as part of the formal approvals process.
Blue Mackerel Winter Webinar #4 - All things construction
Building an offshore wind farm is a complex process that happens in carefully planned stages. In this session, we have covered how the project comes together, from laying foundations on the seabed, to installing turbines, cabling, and substations. You will get to learn what happens when, and how each part connects to create a working wind farm. We have also explained the environmental protection features built into the engineering design to help minimise impacts throughout construction.
